This photo depicts the underside of the seat and leg extension.

Basically, every crossing 1x4 gets a screw and finish washer. The oval ss screws are 1 3/4" in length. Also, note that the screw holes are aligned with the center points of each crossing 1x4 member.

Note that the first 1x4 leg extension surface member (the one that is farthest away from the right edge of the table) is not screwed into the 1x4 support members. Rather, the 2nd 1x4 leg extension surface member is screwed to the first surface member. If you look closely, you'll see the screw points. The purpose of this is to allow the leg extension piece to swing freely in the fishing platform and seat position.
