Boston Whaler - Finding the Damage
After flipping the deck up on my 1984 18 ft Outrage you can see how everything started to separate. The deck had 2 sheets of wood wrapped in Fiberglass mated to the back of the deck/gas tank cover. Looking at it over the last 25 years the black you see on the wood and fiberglass is rot. If you feel a soft deck while walking on it you may have this problem. If you notice water standing on top of your gas tank another indication of water not draining out and deck could be in trouble. If black liquid comes out of screw holes on the deck when you walk over them, you most likely have deck rot! I was not planning on doing this at all but after seeing it there was really no choice. SO time to Dive IN!
