My original plan was to make an insert that slid inside the 3x4 tongue and would have two sets of pins, one for towing (extended) and another for storage.

I was unable to find a vendor that carried 2 3/4 by 3 3/4 stock so I selected the Fulton Fold Away coupler with tongue. This model increases the tongue by 34" and does not reduce the tongue weight or load capacity. I found the best price online at Eastern Marine in Delaware. Shipping was modest and it arrived 3 days after the order was placed.
