Pete H, the interior makes the model as the hulls are all the same. The Sakonnet had a mahogany Reversible Pilot Seat and a front platform made of wood painted white. Many people that have updated their front platform chose to make it out of unpainted mahogany.
My father'S Boat... :-) My first whaler, I was very young.
I don't have a photos :-(. The front platform was white, and the interior gelcoat was white in original. The engine was a 85 hp mercury and the kicker was 7,5 hp mercury... In Italy all the classic whaler had a front platform.
This is the very boat I have! It is a 1965 model (so says the registration) and has the white casting platform that is now rotting out. The rest is very weathered from the sun, but has been a loyal, safe and reliable boat for me for the last 38 years(I bought it in 1972 or so). I keep it in Baja, it needs some restoring but I use it every 3 months.
I just picked up a 1967 Sakonnet here in Indiana. It is powered by a 1970 Bearcat 55. It has all the original hardware, wood and dual tanks. I will try to post some pictures of it later. I had always wanted a Boston Whaler and now I have one.
Just finished taking a Reversible Pilot seat apart. In the process of doing detailed and assembly drawings for my rebuild. Will be redoing console , front and rear seat drawings as well. (Wife wants rear seat for fishing) Pilot seat and anchor well cover were the only original wood parts on my boat. Boat came without wooden decking and I like the boat as it is without it.
I have a 1968 Sakonnet, all original that sat in a barn for 32 years in an estate. It has the white platform and Mahogany console/reversible seat. It is in very good condition but the blue interior is crazed and needs repainting. Does anyone know the paint to use to get back to original? Thanks.
