Just paid, registered and insured my new (to me) whaler today. Shes a 1991 19' Outrage with a 1992 120HP V4 Johnson. Pretty excited about the whole thing. The boat seems, to me, to be in excellent condition and the engine ran very strong during the sea trial. Compression test yielded 125, 129, 125, 129 which I thought was at least consistent. The owner said the engine has VERY low hours and that he and the previous owner hardly ever used the boat.
Needs a new cooler and cooler cushion and I need to replace the brass drain tubes in the stern, and check them all around, as I understand they are a potential problem area. With a full fuel tank and about 500-600lbs of men on the boat it got up on a plane quickly and when we ran wide open it felt like we were doing about 40.
Broker was nice enough to loan me his flaring tool.
So here we go........hopefully many happy and safe hours.
