As a newbie, I am sure this has been discussed millions of times. Am looking for recommendations for good, affordable insurance, esp. interested in agents who might not be too bothered by an overpowered boat, say a Nauset, Sakonnet or Easport with a 115 HP.
Any experiences with Boat US insurance??
Hbahn, When we insured ours our agent at State Farm said that they would not insure the boat if overpowered. I then talked to Progressive and they didn't say anything, but told me that any modification outside of the manufacturers guidelines would not be covered. I was looking at putting a 90 (88) Johnson on a 15' Sport. I stayed with the 50.
don't go boat US. I had insurance thru them, when i replaced my outboard they would not give me an agreed upon value policy and wanted to cap my insurance at less the the cost of my new outboard. PM sent with name and number of the best insurance agent i have found so far.
