My Dauntless 13 will be in the water 99.9% of the time. So what's the deal? Is the below deck utility line raceway tunnel designed to be dry or wet? Should it be plugged or left open. The tunnel is below the waterline so if it's not plugged it will fill with seawater. If it is plugged water will fill it from the deck down. Underway, it drains. I'd like to know how it was designed to work. If it should be dry... How do I keep water out of tunnel?

Most all Boston Whalers have 2 choices.

1. Keep the plug(s) in at all times.
Doing this generally requires a sump pump to keep the boat dry.

2. Remove the plug(s)
This will obviously allow water in the boat up to a certain level. All boats have a slightly different water level.

When a boat is docked or moored, it is susceptible to rain water which will fill the boat up if you keep the plugs in. You should then have a sump pump. This however also needs a well charged battery and possibly a solar charger to keep the battery charged. If the battery goes dead, then so does the pump.

2 choices and people have to choose which works best for them and their situation.

So, I think you are saying that the boat was designed to have the utility lines in seawater when the boat is docked.
It's hard to believe, but, that seems to be the case.
I just wanted confirmation because it seems so stupid to run all the electrical wires, fuel hose and steering cable through a tunnel filled with seawater. I guess there is no reason to ask why...
