I am adding a second 6.6 gal fuel tank in my 2010 150 Super Sport. I have mounted it under the seat beside the original as in the 170 Montauk. My question is how are they plumbed in the 170 Montauk or what is the best way to plumb small removable duel tanks?

When one tank runs out of fuel, remove the fuel line from that tank and plug it into the other FULL tank. This way you know you have enough fuel to make it home.

Add a tee with a valve on both ends. When one runs out close one valve open the other. You can tell when they are getting ready so just open the valve to your second tank and shut the first one.You can also have them both open and then you have a 12 gallon tank.

On second thought also add a filter just south of your tee (to the motor)just to make extra sure.Stainless clamps good fuel tubing and a couple rated valves(Small).

Keep it simple as Joe suggested, your current tank should have a quick disconnect fitting on the tank outlet. Use the same type fitting on the new tank.

Have a quick connect on each tank that is run to each valve then an inch or so later the tee.Its simple and you dont have any exposed fittings on the tanks, you can shut the fuel supply down at the the tanks, and just seems neater to me

I agree with several comments above. Keep It Simple, disconnect the fuel hose from one tank, connect it to the other. This minimizes the hardware and the connectors.

A T-valve just complicates things and more dangerously, can be a source of air into the fuel line from the empty tank if the valve is not absolutely fully switched over. A fuel hose sucking air from an empty tank can fry a two stroke outboard.

I would just connect to the other tank when the first tank runs empty, or gets low. Remember to keep in mind your boating fuel rule: 1/3 of a tank there, 1/3 of a tank back, and 1/3 of a tank reserve.
