Well, lesson learned, don't tow your Whaler on the highway with the boat cover still on. Some of the plastic c-clips came loose during the trip and damaged the gel coat on the rails in a few places. One spot actually went through to the fiberglass. I've added a few pictures of the damage to my profile pictures. Does anybody have a recommendation on the best way to repair this?
A watertight boat is obviously my top priority, but cosmetics are important too. I haven't done much work with gel coat so I could use any advice I can get. Thanks!
It looks like the damage is through the gelcoat to the fiberglass, but not through the fiberglass... and should therefore be water tight still. Assuming the fiberglass isn't all soft from being beaten, a gelcoat repair kit is probably all you'll have to use.
