Well I used a special chemical we use offshore and a nice brush and scrubbed until I just couldnt anymore on the outside.Heard about some sort of special media blasting that can be used in the interior.Should I remove all the handrails and brackets and go ahead and fill the holes with epoxy and sand down? Wondering if it would help them become more stable when I reinstall them.

My i suggest that you take measurements of there that things that you remove so you know where to put them after paint, they say a picture is worth a thousand words. good luck on your project.

I was thinking some small dowels in the holes sticking out half inch or so...after its painted I can just snip em off and re-drill my mounting holes.

I haven't had a problem using coarse thread screws in epoxy, the wood would work. but sanding around the dowels ? if cut off then painted i guess if you found one that would give you a starting point. wood will rot epoxy won't it will also swell.

Well it runs!!! 10 years in the woods and after about 30 seconds of trying it fired up big time scared me half to death.Set the idle on it and it purred like a kitten. Then I noticed it was leaking water where the hoses plug into the heads 4 connections in all.New hose and some nice stainless clamps should do the trick. Its movin plenty of water had a nice stream going even with the leaks.Im going to replace the impeller anyway just to be safe and for that matter every hose and clamp I can find.Im still excited everybody said it would never run...HA!!!!

A buddy of mine told me to nail a 2x6 across the rails get a block to mount the controls and mount the steering wheel on the board. All I would need then is a milk crate to sit on and I would be in business. The funny thing is this dude is serious he would do some crazy stuff like that just to get it in the water.

Just to hazard a guess at the model. Those cleats on the floor were, the long ones for wood console and the shorter ones was for the pilot seat not a RPS so maybe a Eastport or the other model that I can't at this time remember that used the pilot seat.

The "wood cleats" are not original to the boat. They were added.

1. The floor cleats for the console are 1" H x 2" W x 22 3/4" long and were held down by 7 screws.

The console cleats in his boat look original to me and they show 7 screws in each cleat just like the drawings.

2. The floor cleats for the Nauset/Eastport Pilot Seat are 1" H x 2" W x 13" long and held down with 6 screws. 2 screws on each end and 2 spaced out on the centerline.

The Pilot Seat Cleats also look original for a Nauset or Eastport and show the 6 screws in the original location.

See the download section for drawings of the Console and cleats and also the Pilot Seat.

This boat was most likely a Nauset model as I don't see any holes for a Stern Seat but they could be hard to see from the photos.

NOTE:
The Mahogany Reversible Pilot Seat used the same size material of the other cleats (1"x 2") but were 24 inches long.

I must be confused. Did we actually distinguish what model this was?

In post #14, we guessed.
http://www.whalercentral.com/forum/vi...post_60902

Now we basically know it was a Nauset but still this is an educated guess.
This is going by the cleats only as they look original.

I posted a new pic which looks like four mounting holes 2 on each side. from the drawings I downloaded for the stearn seat looks like it would bolt rite up.Also It came with a winshield guard and what loks like a handle or brace that connects in the center of the guard.

No, that is not correct.
There are only 2 holes in the floor for the center support.

Here is a members personal page that shows a very nice example of an original Eastport with a few exceptions.
http://www.whalercentral.com/infusion...r_id=12919

The Nauset is identical except the Nauset does not have the stern seat.
Yours still appears to have been a Nauset.

Take a look at this members personal page. He did a complete restore of all the wood parts for his Eastport.
You can do the same yourself or have someone build it for you. You can also purchase these items from some of our sponsors that make new interiors.

I had to remove that photo as it was taken from another site.
