Comfortable RPS ?

I have taken the seat off and replaced it with a piece of plywood. Drilled a hole in it and put a bass seat in. This works and is very nice but you lose the classic RPS. Thanks for your thaughts.BG

On my Montauk, I raised the legs 4" with composite decking so was more comfortable. While it worked for me (6"2", it was too high for passengers. On my Outrage 17, I moved the handles on the top to the outside corners (covering the rod holders) so when flipped forward, it is comfortable to sit on as a leaning post. This works really well. While I have toyed with the idea of a full leaning post, I can't beat the RPS's versatility for seating with the passengers I have on the boat. Kamie I will try the pillow and see. I just hate to give up the classic look by throwing a folding seat on it. The Outrage has the captain chairs and they are very comfortable. I opted not to go that route as I normally either stand or sit to drive. The cushion has helped a lot, so much that I might add snaps to the back so if i'm fishing, I can swap the cushion to the other side. If you like the captains chairs, find a set and replace the RPS with them. I found that I never sat in them when the boat was underway, I do with the RPS.

She does make two sizes of the seatback cushion in the matching covering and piping. Not cheap but it is worth what she charges. My boat has the narrow size. Member Personal Page Posts: 25 Comments: 0 Joined: 04/10/08	I had the foam replaced with this new marine "extra firm" foam and it works wonders. Your butt does not bottom out on the plywood with two people and it feels like a seat.
