I have a 79 13 Sport and am replacing the cable and pulley steering with a Uflex cable kit. My question is how long does it need to be? They sent me an 8 foot, but it is too short by about 8 inches. But I don't want to go up to 9 foot and find that I need a 10 foot cable. Anybody ever done this? The distance from the center of the steering column to the mount on the motor is 8 feet.

Thanks for any help.

Sure, done it many times but I think you answered your question yourself. If 8 ft is 8" short I'd go with 9ft. If you're still unsure of that and have room for slack, get a 10.
