I recently bought a 1986 Montauk with a 2001 Mercury 115 from our local Navy base for only $1000. I stripped entire boat down and sanded it bare. I have gone back with AWLGRIP paint inside and out and have to say it looks as good as new. I have all original parts except for 2 major ones.......the RPS seat assembly and the console is an aftermarket one. I am restoring this boat to sell for the most profit. I have already had offers of 7500 with the aftermarket equipment in it. Would I do better to get an original console and RPS. Or would I just be spending alot of money for NO reason. Please help.

I would take the $7500. I think the RPS and console will cost you around $1000.

If you have had offers for $7500 the way it is I would take it. The money you would spend on a RPS and console would not increase your profit.

Thanks that's what I was thinking, I was just wondering because I see people asking 11k to 14k for these boats. Seems crazy to me. thanks for your time.

"Asking" and "getting" are two different things.

Ya what kevin said...

The other thing is that with the boat has been painted. The OEM stuff would not add to the selling price what it would cost to buy it. Any one looking for Oem parts would probably want factory finish.

How bout throwing a picture of the boat on your personal page, Love to see what you did with the boat.
