Couple questions for you whaler owners...

How have you mounted a trolling motor on the bow of this model? I am looking at the Motorguide wireless model with a quick disconnect mount for taking some ladies to the sand bar.

How have you run the wiring for the batteries to the trolling motor? I am looking at putting the battery(s) in the console along with relocating the house battery there as well.

Is the wiring channel for the bow light big enough for the wires for the trolling motor?

I have already switched the fuel tank to a plastic one and installed a VHF and CD player. Next is a fish finder, the trolling motor and and a few more rod holders.

Boat will be used in the bay and back waters of Virginia Beach and NC.

Also, what is the whaler website and I'll aske the same questions over there as well?

Looking forward to sprucing up this little boat.

Welcome to Whaler Central.

I have not mounted a trolling motor on the bow of this model but several people have. Use the "Site Search" feature at the top of the page to look for info on bow mount trolling motors.

The channel under the rub rail where the bow light wires go is not big enough to accommodate the size cable you would need for a trolling motor and the run or length of cable would be excessive also.
I believe some people have used the anchor locker to store their batteries for this type of install. However, due to vibration/banging I would recommend you use AGM batteries if they are in that location.

Finally, this is a great website for BW information but if you want to find others then I would recommend you use Google to find them. Just search for "Boston Whaler".

Welcome, there are multiple ways to do it and searching is the best way to see all the options. My option is a bit excessive but it works wonderfully. Take a look at my project page. Good luck!

Thanks for the info guys.

I have searched quite a bit today and have found some great info. This boat is a family boat but is coming to stay with me for a while and I intend to fish her and take the girls to the sand bar.

Bottomfish, I went through all of your pics and your restore was awesome. While we dont need to go that route yet, the near future has a trolling motor setup like yours, a fishfinder as I already have the handheld GPS, and a 90 Yam four stroke at some point.

I will get some pix up of her here in the next couple of days and document how we upgrade her.

Thanks again.
