Does anyone know how to go about matching the original interior blue gelcoat color on the classic 13' whalers? I have an experienced boat builder friend helping out with my refurbish and we could use some advice. I am the original owner of this boat and it means a lot to our family so we want it put back as close as possible to original. The boat will be passed down to my 4 kids and they should hopefully develop the same fond memories as I have with my brother. Any advice would be greatly appreaciated. - Greg (321) 749-1916

You can purchase gelcoat from Spectrum Color which may or may not match exactly. or if your boatbuilder can tint gelcoat, wet sand a section of your hull so you remove the oxidation and get to the original color of your boat. then match away.

Spectrum's web site is http://www.spectrumcolor.com/

Hi......my husband and I are still in the process of restoring our 67 Eastport. We painted inside and out with Awlgrip, which turned out fantastic, but not easy. The BW blue that Awlgrip claimed was the same blue, did not match the gelcoat sample we got from the BW factory in Edgewater FL. - much darker. We had to add some white exterior Awlgrip to make it lighter and came out pretty close to original. Just a tip that some claim they have the BW blue, when they truly don't. Good luck!
