Since we had a day approaching 40, I decided to lift the sides of the tarp on my '86 Montauk and take a poke around... it seems the bottom piece of the wood frame around the louvered console side door has seen fit to release itself from its intended position, leaving me with a debate...
Do I pull the door and drill/dowel/epoxy/revarnish, or is it more economical (time and supplies, in that order) to replace the entire wood assembly? If the latter, where's the best place to go looking? I didn't see anything on specialty marine or nautical lumber, nor in a searchr... Thoughts? Suggestions? Recipes? Good dirty jokes?
What do you want? Louver doors are a pain to make and teak is not a cheap wood to start with. If it were me, I would sand, redowel and epoxy what you have.
If however you want to go with something other than varnished teak, now may be the time. PM me if you want to sell what you have.
