I'm still debating whether to purchase an aluminum transom filler for my 1972 13 footer.
The two negatives to me are the cost of the Kentfab one and the appearance of aluminum as it ages. It gets white powdery oxidation if it's left natural. It can be waxed but that would be difficult with the motor attached. A clearcoat wold not stick to aluminum very long.
I noticed that Breakwater Boat's personal page shows him painting the transadaptor with Awlgrip while it's attached to the hull. The boat is for a customer, I assume.
I wonder how the paint is holding up? I know I need to use the green etching primer if I paint aluminum. I might yet just purchase a short shaft motor and forget the idea, and save $500.
