I have an older Johnson bow mount trolling motor I'm looking to mount on my 13'. I can't really find any pics of people with 13s and trolling motors to see how to mount it. There isn't enough of a lip to drill down through the gunwale to bolt it in place, and no wood up there to anchor into. I was thinking of making a generic wood/plastic block that I mount to the boat, then mount the motor to that so when I upgrade I can just modify the block instead of making unnecessary holes in the hull.
Do a site search on "bow mount trolling motor" and check the option..."must contain all these words". You'll get a lot of results...about four pages worth. Look at poster's personal page...incl mine. . I went thru the same problem last summer. You can PM me if you want more details...

Take a look at the last pictures on my personal page. That is a 13' with a bow mount. There are other pictures showing how I secured the same type of mount on a 17'. The same principle applies to mounting on the 13.
Ok, thanks... I was able to find a couple examples for 13' models. From what I gather there are two main options:
1. through-drill gunwale to exit under the lip, using a short piece of PVC on the underside to allow the bolts to be cranked down pretty good.
2. Drill topside only, clear out foam, pour in epoxy and set bolts to anchor mounting plate to.
It seems like option 2 might not bear the stress of a trolling motor... since all movements of the motor will be channeled right to the mount. I'll look further into option 1 to see if it will work with my particular model.
