In 1977 I bought a brand new 11' Whaler. I found that with me and the 35hp Evenrude in the back it was to much weight for the little boat. I designed a console for the front with mechanical steering. It moved my weight up front and balanced out the total weight. I spent many years enjoying the boat this way, from water sking to scuba diving in the San Juan Islands. I had to rebuild the console a couple of times. It was made of plywood and did not survive a lot that I put it through. I see that 11' Sport Boston Whaler has a console built for it. I was wondering if anyone knew if this is avaiable for my little boat. It looks like it also has mechanical steering, maybe something better then what I had. Mine has rusted away and I need to completly redo the boat console, steering, speed and shift control.
