I changed my mind and have not mounted the center console yet. Where is the best place to mount a center console and flip-flop seat, towards the front more, or towards the middle, or more to the back for the best handling and ride. It is a 1976, 15' sport. I'm using the s.s. side rail as a guide. I have seen several where the console is even with the rail up front towards the bow straight across, and others where the console is just about even the center brace on the side rail, and others a little further back towards the back towards the transom. Anyone have any ides? Once I put it down, I dont want and probly can't move it!, thanx

Mine was mounted before I got it in October and I find that it is mounted too far back and does not ride as evenly as I would like, although I do enjoy the space up front. I'm going to move it forward as close to original position as possible, wherever that may be. The weight is too far back and my gas tank is mounted in the console. If you look at my pers. page youll see where it is, although it is not a very close shot.

Rusty, I installed a console in my 1976 15 4 years ago and have very pleased with the balance and stability of the install. Tomorrow I'll get a measurement for you as to the location of it. ghostrider

Rusty, the console leading edge on the deck is 26 inches from the near vertical edge leading to the anchor well. The windshield measured down would be 46 inches from that vertical portion of the anchor well. My console has a seat that takes up that 20 inches just forward of the windshield. I used well nuts and 5200 sealer to hold it down. Built like a tank. Hole this helps. ghost rider
