I am redoing the fwd hatch on my outrage and, was wondering if gel-coat will stick to epoxy resin or do I have to use polyester resin??
Thanks in advance
Depending on the type of epoxy resin you used, (some brands have more amine blush than others) after curing, will normally have an amine blush that gelcoat will NOT stick to. Use plenty of water and a scotchbrite pad to remove the amine blush, then gelcoat using a quality gelcoat. For skinning issues and thickness issues, try using patch aid.
Ok, I'll use the polyester resin. It's been alittle too cool here to work in the shop with this so, haven't done anything but strip out the bad balsa wood in about a 1/3 of the hatch. Going to use star board as the new core. All cut to size just waiting for better temps. Thanks ~
