Hey guys on my 84 Montauk it came with a gas tank built in under the console. Is this okay and or normal? I was worried about the electronics under the dash, although it is well vented.

Not normal - though not the first I have heard of this. I wouldn't care for the setup if it were my boat.

I don't see where that would really cause any major problems or hazards. Your console is not airtight and I would imagine any vapors would evaporate pretty quick. Make sure you have no leaks and your wiring and connectors are in good condition and not resting on the tank itself. If the tank completely fills the space under the console, then I might be concerned.

It would not be my choice location. I had a 27 gal tank under my RPS seat, it was out of the way and allowed me to maintain my console space for other necessities.
