Hi Members,

I'm French and just bought a 1973 Outrage 21 with a friend.

I need your advice for renovation including repairing crack and holes.

We put the bare hull and here are photos about things to repair.

Please give us your advice.

You have a lot of choices on how to restore the boat and as you as more specific questions you will find as many opinions as you do reply's. First off all the cracked gel has to go the cracks that run down into the glass must be ground out and repaired. You will have to decide between gel coat or paint. It looks like you will be in search of all new hardware. and a bit of wood replacement. Start sanding and search all project pages and post on paint and gel coat. Have a great time with her and keep us updated.

the first thing you want to put on those cracks is a sander. you have to sand or grind all the cracks down. The pictures you show of the floor are pretty bad plan on sanding all of that off. Any single cracks can be ground out and filled with two part filler. I used 3m premium. There are other good fillers made by west

This can't be a 1972 model as it is not the rib side and your Stencil number is much later up on the list.
http://www.whalercentral.com/userphot...lbum_id=11

1971 and 1972 models had rib sides. 1973 and later models had smooth sides.

You have a 1973 or possibly a 1974 model.

I'm surprised the other Banana hull owners haven't noticed the year error. Admins need to correct known errors so other members don't get mislead or confused.

Please let us know a little more and if you have an HIN number on the boat.
Many of the earlier models only had the stencil number however.

Joe - I immediately noticed the error, but by editing smarandat's original post, it then appeared there was no error.

It is better to leave the original post in error and point this out in subsequent discussion so others can learn a bit more about Whaler history and model identification.

At any rate, the rub rails for the original Rib Side (a.k.a. Dump Truck) Outrage is the same as for the later smooth-side Outrage and Revenge 21s.

The rub rail is still available. I suggest ordering one from a Whaler dealer in the US and having it shipped to France. That is not as big a deal as it may sound.

My main concern is "Searching"...

If a member searches for a 1972 rib sided Whaler, this thread would show up.

You have a point but I'm not sure "What is better" for everyone, or this site, in the long run......

As I said, a Whaler dealer is who can order the rub rail for an Outrage 21 and ship it to you. I recommend Twin Cities Marine. Ask for Sue.

Though their web site is down temprarily, their email is working just fine:

Smarandat,

Good to see that you are about to do some serious repairs to your newly found Outrage Classic 21.
The specific part that you will need IF wanting to be as original as the manufacturer install was;
May come from a variety of sources.
As suggested from above "Twin City" and Sue may be of great help to provide the Original matching kit.
The idea will be that for you obtain the proper part number for this rub rail.
I have the very same kit here still in the box and ready to be installed when the time comes.
As per Mr Bennet's guidance and direction;
And the M&P Whaler Mercury dealership,which sent me the kit;
The part number that you will need is:
Bumper Kit# Class 500-05010.
You can reach Chuck Bennett at the email address of cbennett@whaler .com for pertinent part questions about your part related questions.

Bonne Chance.
