New to the Forum and would appreciate advice on the selection of an out board motor bracket for a 15 hp Evinrude, to be mounted on my transom. The Whaler is a recent purchase and I like to troll with downriggers and the 50 hp Merc is a bit much for that. I also considered just using a trolling motor if I could find one to mount on the bow effectively, if that would be the better choice. Any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated. This Outrage came equipped with two batteries and Blue Sea switch. Thanks much. Hankcat
Thank you gentleman, yes it is a Dauntless. At my age I'm happy to remember my name!

I think you have a typo in the Subject?
What model do you have?
13' Sport as there is no Outrage in a 13' size...
Take a look through the Whaler Model Specifications and let us know.

Since the engine is a 50HP, my guess is a 13 Dauntless

If you have a swim platform that would be the ideal place to mount an additional trolling motor. Is your boat equipped with a swim platform?

Matt, thanks for the reply, unfortunately I do not have a swim platform. I checked with BW and they no longer make that platform available for my year as the molds are not useable after a number of years. Appreciate the idea as I might consider a fixed bracket and mount my old Minn Kota to that. Thanks, Hank C.

Hank,
Looking at it with the size boat, 13', I think you may be better served with let's say an 8 HP Honda 4 stroke. The older 8 and 10 HP models can be had for ~ $450. These things will run forever and in my opinion would push your boat at a pretty good clip. I'm looking at acquiring an 8-10 HP to mount on a bracket on the swim platform of my 15'. This will allow me to use it on the restricted lake I grew up on. Best of luck and thanks for reading my 2 cents worth.

Matt thanks for the advice. I will see what's available in a Yamaha 4 stroke. Still need advice on the best mount for my 13' Dauntless. Will reserch that directly with Whaler if I can not find someone who has mounted a bracket on a 13'. Best, Hank
