Hi, Everyone
I am considering raising the rear seat on my 13 sport to make room for my fuel tanks and battery. I would like to make more room in the back.
I am wondering if this is a good idea as well how it will look aesthetically. Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Rob

Look at my personal page........All I did was mount the seat ontop of the side wood instead of the bottom. That gave me another 3 inches

Thanks for the input. Didn't think about the pitching aspect.
Tom, I did notice your pic and I guess you're happy with the way it looks. I'm fairly tall and wasn't sure how much further I would be leaning over. I guess I just need to set it up and see how I like it.

I wouldn't worry about the pitching. Remember you are talking about a 13' boat, 3" not going to make much difference.
My 15' is set up similar to what you want to do, I say go for it. If you setup your boat so it is more comfortable, you will use it more.

If you mount it on top like "Tom" did, nobody's gonna notice, and you'll have more room. The problem I find with my classic 15' is that the seat is either too close so your knee's hit the console, or too far away so that I have to lean over to get to the helm.

Rob, I raised the entire interior (seat, console, sideboards) on my 15 Supersport by simply splicing in a strip of Starboard. It came out great and really improves the comfort for us tall folks. Pictures are on my personal page.

Exactly - each sideboard is held on the Starboard by 6 or 7 316 stainless screws up from the bottom. I went to a lot of trouble to make sure the Starboard strips were properly aligned - used a drill press to make sure the hole in the Starboard was truly vertical, then drilled all the way through into the mahogany with the small bit before going back and doing the clearance hole and the countersink in the Starboard. The front thwart uses separate pieces of Starboard, screwed right onto the thwart itself. Before I put the front seatback on, you could actually run the front thwart high or low by just flipping it over.
I really like the extra height, and the additional room in the storage compartment is very useful - you wouldn't think the 2" would make all that much difference, but it does.

Sweet, I got to do something similiar. I have the regular sport interior and I'm thinking of raising the console. I'm 6'3" and the back gets a little tired by the end of the day.

Thanks, Guys
I like the Starboard idea. Seems like another project is in the making.
