I just pruchased a 1993 Montauk 17 and I want to fixed some striped holes that support the SS bow rail. Its only 3 holes that are striped, do I need to remove the whole railing to fix screw holes? Or can I work on it with the rails in place? Plus, on a previous thread they recomended gorrila Glue?
If you can get to the troubled area then you shouldn't need to remove the entire rail....You will need to remove the rail mount from the boat surface though........The Gorilla Glue method works very well and is pretty simple to do. Just use caution in that the Glue expands majorly...........Make sure you clean out any loose debris that may be in the stripped out holes.
