I was looking at a mid 80 s Montaulk that came from Florida. The console isn,t original and there is only rear rails. It appears sound but has been painted on the inside with a spatter type white and blue. I want the motor and trailer. What can I get for a sound but ugly hull?

Give us a little more information. What year is it? Can you supply a few photos?

Having a smirk will help but I would not figure it to be worth more than any thing more than three digits. The closer to a grand that number is the longer it will take to move it. at 500 it will fly off the trailer. I know it does not sound like much but most whaler folks spend a lot of time looking for oem parts for projects, Which would cost over another grand. Best thing to do is decide if your willing to send the bucks on the trailer and motor and Not figure on the price of the hull to recoop funds. Then when you sell it you can buy some cool new electronics.

I found out more info. The boat is a 17' Guardian model montauk. Original seat console and tank were my biggest concern. I thought someone had changed out the console and removed all the teak making a Frankenboat. but instead it is the rare heavy duty government version. The interior has still been painted with a ugly blue /white spatter paint but a repaint of the inside isn,t out of he question . It,s been repowered with a 03 90hp Etec and sits on a nice aluminum trailer. I know this morning if I get it as another offer came in last night .The owner accepted my offer but has a slightly higher offer he is considering from someone who saw the boat before me.Neither of us made a deposit as we are a distance away
