How can I tell if it drafts well? It appears to sit relatively level, BUT the forward end of the lower unit (gearcase) and 1/2 of the prop of my 1992 Evinrude 40 sits IN the water. The hydraulic tilt is leaky so I'm not entirely sure it's tilting all the way up but it seems to. Is this a problem? Or does that engine just not tilt up enough?
Do you have photos of how she sits in the water? Compare those with some of the 13 photos on personal pages. It would help if you got the hull weighed and created a personal page so we can see what the boat looks like
The engine sits in the water just like this (see links below). Is this because the transom is angled in and therefore the engine can't clear the water even when tilt is maxed out? Getting ready to install a Y2K Yami 40 2-stroke.
Many if not the majority of boat/motor combination's of all makes and models will have a portion of the lower unit in the water when tilted full up. Transom angle, degree of available tilt, actual shaft length, mounting height and weight will have some affect.
