Hello everyone! This site has been a great source of reference and entertainment. I am new to the Whaler world and really appreciate the information that can be accessed here. I recently purchased a 1984 Outrage 18 from regentsbay. I am fortunate enough to live a stones throw away from the San Juan Islands in the Puget Sound and have been able to enjoy my new toy quite a bit so far. The water gets pretty messy in Bellingham Bay, where I launch from, but the Outrage handles it with finess! I am so impressed by this hull that I can't stop talking about it with my friends.
There is alot of strong current and wind up here, and the whaler seems to list to the port side quite often. It's only when i'm under way and cruising at 25nm's or more. That's the only thing that I would like to correct. It gets on plane perfectly and stays there all the way down to low speeds. I really don't want to put trim tabs on the boat, but is there even another option to correct this issue?
Thanks!

Adjust the trim tab on the motor if it needs it. While a list to Port is typical for this boat, it can be made much worse by a maladjusted trim tab which is there to correct for propeller steering torque.

What propeller are you using and how high is the motor mounted on the transom?

You can also read about the trim tab adjustment in the Boston Whaler Owner's Manual

Thanks guys! I'll adjust the motor trim tab and see if it helps. If not, then i'll probably move the transducer to the port side and see what that does.

It's very doubtful that the transducer would cause that. You make have to adjust the trim tab several times before you get it right. When test it, make sure you are making note of the pull at the same speed and water conditions

When the wind pushes the bow in one direction, you turn the helm to hold your course.
The engine pushes from beneath and to one side and will make the boat lean towards the wind direction.
You are going straight, but the engine is pushing slightly to one side, just as it does when you turn in either direction.
This effect may be more pronounced in one direction because of torque, but it will happen with all boats.
They dig in a rail toward the wind and/or waves.
I would check the engine trim tab, but in calm water, and little wind.
Most likely, if the boat sits level at rest, there is little you can do.
Good Luck
