1987 17' montauk
i have an emergency ladder that i want to install. it requires a wood backing to fasten the interior hook/plate to. the wood locating diagram that i use from this site hase been accurate for all my wood searches. but for the location im interested in, just forward of the rear rail stanction, at the opening between the rear and front rails, the diagram calls out a wood backing. tried the knocking technique and couldnt acurately access wood or not. so i drilled...nothin; and i drilled again...nothin. so now i am filling these holes. any suggestions for wood locations? should be an interior vertical mounting location
