Hey guys:
I've always REpainted the bottom on my 20 outrage (it was painted when I got her).
However, I have a buddy who wants to leave his boat in the water all the time and will be painting his bottom for the first time.
Is there any primer that need be applied (or other prepping steps for that matter), or do you just start with the nonfouling bottom paint???
thanks again;
Todd
If the bottom has been waxed he will need to strip off as much wax as possible. I put the boat in the water for a day or so to find the exact waterline. If the surface is a little rough up he should have no problem getting the new paint to adhere. I've never used any sort of primer and have never had a problem
