Nice looking boat however, the console is not correct. It would be nice to have the teak console. Also the bow railing looks like it is off 20 or 22 Outrage. Wonder if it is a converted Outrage III.

One day I will own a ribside. One day.

The asking price is not out of reality at all. Especially if the boat in is clean, well kept, free of major gelcoat / glass issues, and has good power. Actually I thought the price was pretty fair. To the point of "If I sold the Newport and 13...."

If the boat is a 1972 it would not have that console as that style was not introduced until 1973. I know TWC can weigh in with the right answer but, I do not think the ridsided Outrage ever had this console on it from the Factory. (?)

That hull with this parts vessel should work out just fine. http://www.salvagedirect.com/asp/viewitem.asp?itemid=700630

I think I saw that boat before. I think it was at the place where I had my boat restored, after Ike. Bow rail pretzeling looks familiar. I tried to buy the leaning post out of it.

It was a mess.

I think the story was that the owner had two Whalers, and only had time to move one before the storm. Left this one tied to a dock. At least I think that was the story...

Ribside 21s did not use the "winged" console, nor did they have built in 40 gallon tanks.

The bow rail is probably from a later Outrage as Jeff points out. Maybe someone put the top skin of a ribside on a later hull? Or do we have a transitional hybrid here?

Tom,

That is what I thought on the console. I mentioned the Outrage III conversion because #1 the winged console did not make sense and I figured swapping out the Cohasset console for the winged console would be easy and a likely occurrence. Also, it provides more helm space than the Cohasset console. I think if the Teak console was installed in the first place it would most likely still be there or, you may see patched holes in the deck. #2 the cap shows no holes for an OEM railing and the Outrage III did not have a bow rail. So, the later retrofit of this railing would make more sense.

Jeff,

I think yours is a very good theory. Those pedestal consoles were pretty fragile.
