What purpose does or did the cylindrical disc just forward of the bow locker serve? I presume it was used for filling the hull with foam but not sure and have always been curious.Smile

Yes, it is where the liquid foam was poured into the hull cavity during construction. Is is called the Sprue Hole. All Whalers have one somehere.

From the Merriam-Webster dictionary:

Main Entry: sprue
Pronunciation: \`sprü\
Function: noun
Etymology: origin unknown
Date: circa 1875
1 : the waste piece on a casting (as of metal or plastic) left by the hole through which the mold was filled
2 : the hole in which a sprue forms
