My Z legs for the 85 Montauk have seen better days. . I'm going to paint them either white or silver grey. . does anyone know what the best paint product for this kind of thing is? And what the best method is?
As you probably know, the RPS Z legs are molded plastic. While painting is an option, I strongly suggest a few things.
Regardless of whether they are brown or white, they can fade due to sun exposure.
Try giving them a good cleaning with Simple Green and a stiff brush. Once clean and dry, wipe on a few thin coats of Penetrol with a dry cloth or paper towel. It should be available at a retail paint/hardware store. It is a paint conditioner product that will restore the color. Make sure you don't get it on the deck.
Don't ask how, but it really works.
Doing this once a year will keep them looking good. Many, many members use it.
