It depends on whether you want to operate the boat "whaler" style (wet) or "dry" boat. I have a 22 outrage with 3 pumps. One in the sump, live well, and motor well. I like to run dry, the boat gets on plane faster and is lighter in the rear when fishing, rather than wait and have all the water drain. Worst case scenario, pull the sump plug and the water will drain while draining.

Jerry, I'd keep the pump. It's not like you have to use it if you don't want to. I bought a 750 gph with built in float switch to replace the 500 gph that was there. I don't want a pump that comes on automatically every minute or so. My other thoughts are with the sump area drier is it will keep the gas tank area and other areas drier too.

problem is the one the boat came with is fully automatic with a built in switch,I may have to put it on a console switch, since I dont want it constantly turing on and off

I also have a 750 with a built in switch, just like the one below. I have it wired directly to the battery and it works great. Never had an issue with it coming on and off when not needed. For me, no manual switch means one less thing to go wrong, or more likely, one less thing to forget to turn on at the end of the day.
