Hi, I am currently in the process of bringing a 1980 Outrage V-20 back to life and am now looking at options to replace the deck hatches in the bow. It appears that later models came with fiberglass hatches but mine has a teak hatch. The current plywood is delaminating and has some rot issues so it has to be replaced. After looking at the price of teak plywood and picking my jaw back up off the floor, I wondered if anyone had tried other options...such as plastic lumber, Nautolex, etc. I'm open for ideas...I want it to look nice but not break the bank either.
thanks in advance.
I've attached a photo of the piece in question with an arrow pointing to it. (pardon the line spaghetti and leaves...I had just take possession when I took these photos)

coop, looks like I may have the hatch you need, if it is the same as the front hatch on a 25 outrage. How about an email address and measurements, I can send you photos tonight
Okay, may have solved the problem...I found a local retailer that has marine teak plywood for about $180 per 4 x 8 sheet (Thats alot cheaper than what I was finding online). I can live with that.
Try contacting Mike at Nautical Lumber here in Detroit. With those measurements he should get you a good solid price on either having them redone as plywood or maybe solid stock.
BTW is the boat you are working on one of the the V-20's usually tied up in the marina just West of Millers in PIB?
As a matter of fact it was one of the whalers just west of Millers. Its new dock is now down just past the bridge before the Fish Hatchery. It will look a lot better this year though.
