does anybody know the steering cable lenght for an 89 montauk have to replace and cant read numbers on old cable

It was a long time ago but as I recall it was 17 foot on my Montauk-17 1981 year

If you want to see for your self use a fish tape / or a wire or string. run it where you want it to go then measure it then you will be sure to get the right one. I used a fish tape when I was figuring out the length for my hydraulic system. As I said the 17 ft. Teleflex nfb was what worked the best for me, but check it for your self if you like.

I recently replaced the steering system on my 1961 Eastport 16'7" hull.I went with the 18" cable on the Teleflex safe-T II NFB.The lenght of this cable was perfect and I honestly feel that a 17' cable would have made any bends in the routing too tight. Tight Lines.....
