Has anyone installed this jackplate on a 78 montauk or equal? I am concerned about the mounting with the splash well drain tubes being 16 1/2 inches and the jackplate being 16 3/4 wide. I called BMS and the said that they usally grind the drain tube or notch the jack plate to make it fit. I am concerding replacing the splash well tubes with PVC tubes flush with the transom so there will not be any interference problems. Has anyone done this or thought about it? ThanksSmile

Grinding the drain tubes seems like a poor suggestion. I had my plate notched to avoid the interference.
