I have what looks like a fuel pump on an 1986 Outrage 18'. It is mounted on the rear starboard side and the fuel lines run through it, with a plug with three wires.
1. Is this standard equipment? (The motor is a 1999 Mercury 150 Optimax.)
2. How is the power supplied? (From key source or switch panel?)
3. How can I test it?
4. Does it need an electric pump when I do have a primer bulb?

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Al

Your motor should have a fuel pump on itself. You could have an electric primer. It should be activated when you press in on the key in the ignition. The buld is used for a back up.
