I have a 1981 15 foot sport I just picked up. I want to know if they make some type of back for the driver's bench (obviously it is a side console). My uncle had a regular folding cushion seat. I threw it out. I see alot of 13 and 15s for sale with cushioned seats bolted into the bench. I want the wood look. Any suggestions or info. would be great.

I am a first time boat owner and a whaler owner at that. I am digging this website. I like the whaler craze.

oh henry,

You might take a look at the Super Sport models. They have a wood back with a railing around it.

I don't see anyone here that has photos of a Super Sport but in the downloads section there is a part manual the 15 Super Sport. Maybe that will help you or maybe someone can show you some photos.

hey Oh Henry,
I have a 15' Center Console Sport and it came from BW with a bench seat that also has a wooden backrest so you may want to try and copy that look BUT the way it was done from the factory had some flaws. Basically there was stainless railing tha ran down the side of the boat and then wrapped behind the wooden seat back as a support. It gave some nice structural strength but made it almost impossible to step into the rear area of the boat ( I freely admit that I am a big Klutz) I think you could either make a seat back with wooden supports tohold it up or just do what I did and mount two captains chairs on swivels...makes trolling Great!
