So I’m trying to bring a legend back to life… it’s has 18’ outrage but is a grey hull, guardian!? An old title shows it came from the NAVY.
It’s missing a lot of hardware. I have found a good amount of it but here are my biggest needs.
- fuel tank cover, unfortunately it’s missing. The old seller literally had a sheet of plywood. Is there anyone that makes them? Used one’s available? Diagram to DYI?
- anchor hatch cover. Old owner cut it in half.. same questions.
- fuel line covers there is one on each side believe they are made of plastic..
- lastly, the fuel tank. I have an aluminum that was good with a pressure test but if I’m doing all this work might be a good idea to get a new tank. I believe Florida Marine has the ability to make a new aluminum but is there any other options? Plastic?
Please help!

Fuel Tank cover/ hatch -
The fuel tank cover is not made any longer. A fiberglass shop can make one. It can be a DIY with guidance.

The covers are made of glass infused plastic known as Kydex.
you can buy a sheet and heat/bend to shape.
Some owners just used 1/4" starboard.

Off the shelf and plastic tanks are not the right size and/or shape.
Some owners run a Moeller 22 gallon on deck tank installed under the RPS till they get a tank fabricated.
While FMT is the OEM supplier, they stopped taking custom orders last fall. You should call them to verify that is still accurate.
You can have a local shop make one. Here is the measured drawing.
The sender is available from www.e-components.net.

Thank you sir for the wealth of knowledge.
I will call to see if FML is still taking orders and report back.
Do you know where I can find plans/diagrams for the fuel tank cover?
Does anyone sell the epoxy gunnels or the anchor hatch anywhere?

It is 3 alternating, overlapping layers of 1/4" marine plywood plus ~ 1/3" fiberglass/gelcoat.
This is the go-to article for repairing, building a cover. The size is the opening minus 3/8" for the calked seam.

There is a guy who can make you a hatch from Starboard with the non-skid pattern. Call Ray Martin @ Martin Marine Design. www.martinmarinedesign.com
