Newly restored and looking to place battery in another spot besides stern or under the console. Have an idea to place the battery in the RPS box. Open a passage way to the tunnel (obviously will be properly sealed against any water intrusion) under the seat box. The battery would be shimmed up off the floor and stabilized by cutting a hole the size of the battery in the bottom of the box. The box would have a forward and aft vent.
Any reason this idea may not work? The seat will be vented, battery access would still be easy to get to.
Reason for doing this is to be able to put two gas tanks under the console and not leave battery in stern exposed to weather. Also, will leave a clean deck area.
Battery in the original stern location works fine on these boats, because they tend to float rather high in the stern. Moving it to the RPS, seems like work and expense for no gain. Just my thoughts-
