Hi everyone, please forgive how stupid this question is but i'm going to ask anyway.

We have had the boat for 3yrs - love it, it's crazy fast with a 2stroke 130 but also very stern heavy Often difficult to bring the nose down. Our boat sits on the river all year long and come out for a regular service / clean up

So...

In the fish locker behind the seats there is a bung / plug - it turns 360 looks old and loose. I'm replacing it as our locker always floods and requires pumping / bailing. I assume the water comes in via the bung-hole

But.. The two side drain holes are not plugged whilst on the water. Should they be? with the weight of the 130 and several people on board the waterline is lower than the holes water drains in and also floods the fish locker.

On the plain she sits above the holes and all is good but we have a slow 4knts speed limit for 30mins before we get out to see this is when she floods.

Woould love any advice and thoughts about when and when not to plug..

1. Make sure the plugs are tight...turn the handle clockwise until they are snug.

2. Unless you need a live well, keep the plugs in when you are running.

Cheers Dave-

The bung has a threaded shaft and if you insert it and turn the handle it compresses the rubber part and makes a tight fit.

If yours does not tighten, remove and hold the edge of the brass washer while turning the handle. Sometimes they stick. If really frozen, replace.

The deck drains on the hull sides are not easy to close since they are large. Have you shifted any weight forward?

With the bow rise, what is the engine mounting height? How many empty holes above the top bolt?

What is the prop mfg, model and size?

If your engine is low, raising it and a prop change may help with the bow rise

There are no guarantees as this boat had a stern bias and showed some not desirable attributes at 13-25 mph.

Plug all the drains that are 1" diameter.
