Previous owner of my 1987 Montauk 17 drilled a 1" hole in the deck to run the fuel line from the Pate tank that was installed (which covered the original fuel line hole). I'm doing some winter upkeep on the boat and would like to put some sort of fitting or hardware in the hole to keep water from getting into the fiberglass (he just drilled the hole and ran the line, no waterproofing done). Looking for ideas if anyone has done this before. I'm thinking a thru -hull style fitting without the retaining nut and sealed to the deck with 5200?

Buy a short length of one inch dowel and cut a piece to fit the hole. Place it into the hole and seal it with 3M 4200 or 5200. A more complex repair but perhaps better would be to use an epoxy based fiberglass repair kit to seal the hole to match the surrounding gel coat.

You could use a short piece of 1" brass drain tube. insert from the tunnel and flare the deck end.
Either way, the sides of the cut need to be sealed.

is there any recommended compound or sealant I should use if I'm only sealing the exposed fiberglass?

PVC pipe could also be used and also could be glue to a larger piece and machined to the shape you would like for the top portion on the deck. Like making a dome on it. Also sealant will stick to it. Would work like the through hull. Seal the wood with epoxy resin like 5 minute epoxy.
Or something like this
