1961 Nauset #3511 16’ under construction. Updating bench type pilot seat to a Boston whaler mahogany rps, has anyone installed there gas tank under this seat, if so what tank size was used, what modifications had to be done and is this a bad place? https://www.specialtymarine.com/collections/rps-seats-and-accessories/products/boston-whaler-mahogany-rps-seat-fits-classic-16-17-hulls-1
Also, repowering with 4 stroke 90 hp. Mercury, weight distribution is what I’m thinking about.
Thank You in advance of replies.
May your pleasures be many and your troubles be few. LZ Friendly.
Many owners with an RPS have installled large single tanks over the years.
Currently your options include:
Plastic -
Twin 6 gallon tanks - Moeller or Scepter
Single 12 gallon high tank - Moeller
Single 18 gallon
Single 22 gallon in white or red
Single 24 gallon
I do not recommend SM as their quality is inferior for the price. Cushion foam is not bagged, vinyl is thin and fails after 2 years. Wood is not high quality and the finishing is subpar.
If I was forced to replace my current RPS I would purchase the individual pieces from several quality vendors and assemble it myself.
