Bilge Pump

Member Posts: 2 Comments: 0 Joined: 08/23/21	I am looking at purchasing a 2000 Montauk 17, I have looked at several of these and noticed the owners have installed a bulge pump in the area where all the cables and fuel line are located in the area before the transom pit. I thought these boats were self bailing? Thank you

In most boats, this is only a gallon or so. In some older boats with heavy stern weight, it can be on the deck. Some owners expect the boat to be "dry" and install a bilge pump to keep the boat dry. You should test your boat and determine if you think you need the pump.
