Hi, I recently purchased a 2000 Boston whaler outrage. the boat is great except for one problem. the cabin has an off smell, and there is water collecting in the hole in the floor made for the table to slide into. My thoughts are that the water could be entering the bathroom window because that window fits poorly, and it being a 20-year-old boat the floor for the bathroom has cracks in the silicone and maybe it can be leaking down and collecting in that hole. I was curious if anyone else had experienced this same issue on this boat. It's the same model as 1999-2001 28 or also known as the 290 outrage in 2002-2003. thank you in advance any advice is much appreciated

Here are more specifics:
1999-2001 Outrage 28 https://www.whalercentral.com/viewpag...age_id=247
2002-2003 Outrage 290

So apparently you have a 2000 Outrage 28 which we do not know for sure it is exactly like the newer 2002-2003 Outrage 290 so lets just discuss your Outrage 28.

yeah, so I don't know what to do anymore. I've gotten a few opinions on people and haven't found much about the issue. the water that fills that hole has such an awful smell, almost has a hint of some sort of petroleum smell (the fuel tanks are sealed). while out on the water it doesn't fill up so that tells me that it's more of water getting in there from somewhere else than the bottom of the boat. it typically accumulates there throughout the day and I have to suck it out with the shop vac about twice a day

Suggest you do a dye test to determine the source. Make sure the colorant added to the water will not stain. Spray on the deck, windows etc and monitor the cabin.

With the humidity, it could be moisture that is dropping onto a surface overnight and accumulating.

What is the volume of water? 1 oz, 1 cup or 1 gallon?

It's definitely about half a gallon when it's full to the top, if all else fails im going to do that dye test. But for now I'm gonna go around and make sure everything is sealed with fresh silicone

That is odd that it looks unfinished in the hole. I would expect a base of some sort. I would put some kind of cleaner like bleach in there and suck it out until it is clean down there and figure out what piece is missing or why not finished. That foam should be sealed. If my project I would drill out as much foam as I could and then dry it out and then pour in new foam and drill for a new base then seal that foam with epoxy.

Foam looks cracked and water logged. Once you pull out old foam then maybe the water extrusion will be more obvious.
