Hello:
I'm new on here, so I apologize in advance if I didn't search adequately.

I recently purchased a beautifully restored 1988 Outrage 20' center console. My understanding is this boat has a number of through hulls but no bilge. Also, no drain plug in the rear of the boat. I'm assuming that any water in the boat exits upon the boat moving? Also, the previous owner had removed the bow rail for some reason, and now there's nothing for passengers to hold on to. I've found some stainless handrails. Do I just screw them righ into the hull? There's no acess for a backing plate.
Thanks in avance!

There are splashwell drains in the transom.

There is a sump drain under an access panel in the aft starboard corner of the floor forward of the bulkhead. This drain goes down to the bottom of the boat.

All plugs go in from inside the boat.

For appropriate rails, contact CMI in Massachussetts. They are the original vendor.

You should read up on how Boston Whalers are made so you can understand how it is different it is from all other boats.

There is backing plywood under the fiberglass in strategic locations for the screws that the console, seats, rails etc.

Every fastener should have a dab of marine sealant in the hole, under the head, to keep water from entering the foamed areas.

Thanks a lot! I'm actually a sailor, so the small power boat scene is new to mean. I could swear that there was no outside drain plug on this boat. I do know about the starboard sump. The guy I bought it from stated that the deck storage areas will fill with water. There are plugs for these if you want to keep something dry, but you have to remember to remoce them in case of rain. Thanks again!
