Member Posts: 2 Comments: 0 Joined: 08/21/21	Good morning, I am new and I sure this has been discussed before, but I have bought 2 whalers with no titles. I both boats have be registered before. One from VA and the from SC. I live in VA. What is the best way/simplest to get a title for this boats? I would appreciate any and all help. In a title state, like Virginia and South Carolina, one needs the boat title if it was registered in a title state. If the boat is not from a title state, a bill of sale is required. I just went through titling a boat from VA in KY, both title states. It was a complete P.I.T.A. Virginia has a detailed process on their website. https://dwr.virginia.gov/boating/regi...istration/ If the prior owner has lost his/her title, he/she MUST request a duplicate title. Use boat reg# and the id. He/she will sign over the title to you and you can transfer it into your name.
