Just joined the Whaler family yesterday. The wife has been eyeing an older 13 and finally made the deal. Haven't had a chance to get a more certain ID on it. It needs light fiberglass work, a new trailer, probably repowering, and some minor rewiring.
Currently has an old 2-smoke Everrude 20hp. Going to try and crank it tonight. If I were to be the primary captain, I'd consider keeping the 2-smoke. But the wife needs the ease and security of a 4-stroke with power tilt. My concern is the added weight vs. 2-stroke. Anyone repowered a similar BW with a 4-stroke? Results?
Very helpful!
So now we know she was built in 1987 as a 1988 year model.
Still trying to pin down the exact model, but I believe it to be a 13 Standard that was customized with a console and remote steering.
